I would say it is because this feels like a Ghibli animation made for children more than grown ups and there is nothing wrong with that but as a grown up it didn't grip me. It invokes our old childhood imaginations, of a grand castle floating amidst a sea of clouds. Now I hate to say it but 'Laputa: Castle in the Sky' didn't do it for me and unlike other Hayao Miyazaki animations the story which sees Sheeta and Pazu on an adventure didn't grab me and neither did their characters. Laputa Castle in The Sky this movie title alone sparks imagination and wonder. A young boy and a girl with a magic crystal must race against pirates and foreign agents in a search for a legendary floating castle.

Whilst Hayao Miyazaki had already given us such animations as 'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind' and 'The Castle of Cagliostro', 'Laputa: Castle in the Sky' was the first animation to come out of Studio Ghibli.
